Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions apply to all bookings, lessons, camps, equipment hire, and activities provided by Bunmahon Surf School. By making a booking, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions.

1. Bookings & contracts

When a booking is made, a contract is formed between the customer and Bunmahon Surf School once the booking is confirmed by Bunmahon Surf School, whether:

  • In writing
  • By email
  • Or verbally

     

    In the case of late telephone bookings where written confirmation is not possible in time, the agreement shall be deemed a verbal contract.

The person making the booking:

  • Accepts responsibility for payment for all participants included in the booking

     

  • Is responsible for ensuring that all participants are aware of and agree to these Terms & Conditions

     

By completing a booking, you confirm acceptance of these Terms & Conditions on behalf of all participants.

2. Booking fees & exclusions

  • A 3.4% booking fee applies to all online bookings

     

  • Booking fees are non-refundable

3. Sessions, tides & conditions

Surfing and water activities are dependent on weather, tides, and sea conditions.

  • Lesson days and times may vary to suit tides and wave conditions

  • Bunmahon Surf School reserves the right to cancel, postpone, or modify sessions if conditions are unsuitable or unsafe

If Bunmahon Surf School cancels a session due to unsuitable conditions:

  • We will make every effort to reschedule to an alternative date

  • If rescheduling is not possible, a credit note or refund will be issued

Missed sessions by members or participants cannot be rescheduled or refunded.
Once a course or lesson has commenced, all refunds are void due to limited spaces allocated to each group.

4. Cancellations – lessons & camps

Due to limited availability and instructor-to-participant ratios, the following cancellation policy applies:

Lesson & camp cancellation charges:

 

  • More than 14 days’ notice: Full refund
  • Less than 14 days’ notice: 50% refund
  • Less than 2 days’ notice: No refund

If a customer has paid for a block of lessons at a discounted rate, any refund will be calculated:

  • Based on lessons already delivered

  • At the undiscounted individual lesson price

  • Less the total amount already paid

All cancellations must be made via email and are effective from the date received by Bunmahon Surf School.

5. Equipment hire cancellations

  • Customers will receive a refund if cancellation is made at least 24 hours prior to the hire time

  • No refund will be issued once equipment has been paid for and collected

No refund will be offered if:

  • A medical condition becomes apparent after the lesson has commenced and the instructor deems participation unsafe

  • A participant refuses to comply with surf school procedures and is excluded for safety reasons

6. Booking changes

  • All booking changes are subject to availability

  • If changes cannot be accommodated, payments or deposits are non-refundable

For group bookings:

  • Any reduction in participant numbers must be notified at least 48 hours in advance

  • Changes made less than 48 hours before the session will be charged based on the original group size

7. Weather during sessions

Management reserves the right to:

  • Modify or change the programme if conditions become unsafe

  • Replace water-based activities with shore-based activities

  • Reschedule activities where necessary

No refunds will be issued where a session is modified for safety reasons.

8. Medical conditions & fitness

All participants must:

  • Disclose any medical conditions, illnesses, allergies, or medications prior to participation

  • Have at least basic swimming ability

Bunmahon Surf School accepts no liability for any loss, injury, or incident arising from failure to disclose relevant medical information.

9. Participant behaviour & safety

All participants must:

  • Follow instructions given by instructors and staff at all times

  • Act responsibly and safely

  • Respect other participants, staff, and equipment

Bunmahon Surf School reserves the right to refuse participation to anyone who does not comply with safety procedures or instructions.

10. Equipment responsibility

Bunmahon Surf School takes all reasonable measures to ensure equipment is safe and well maintained.

Participants are responsible for:

  • Reporting any damage immediately

Any damage caused while equipment is in their possession

11. Risk acknowledgement

Surfing, stand-up paddleboarding, and outdoor activities carry inherent risks, even under the supervision of qualified instructors.

By participating, all participants acknowledge:

  • The risks involved in water and outdoor activities

     

  • That participation is voluntary

12. Liability & personal belongings

Participants accept that:

  • Bunmahon Surf School is not responsible for loss or damage to personal belongings

  • Participation is undertaken at the participant’s own risk

Bunmahon Surf School assumes no liability for:

  • Personal injury

  • Loss or damage to property

  • Consequential loss

  • Third-party claims

Except where caused by negligence or fault on the part of Bunmahon Surf School, its employees, officers, or agents.

13. Photos & media

Photographs or videos may be taken during lessons for promotional purposes. Consent is managed through the booking system and on-site disclaimer forms. Requests for removal can be made by contacting Bunmahon Surf School.

14. Governing law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of Ireland, and any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Irish courts.
